That first car became the pride of his collection — so cherished that it was rarely taken out. Wanting something he could enjoy more freely, he returned to us to create a second, more modern interpretation of the P50.

Together we selected a stunning Candy Apple Red finish from the House of Kolor range, creating a true showpiece that transformed the tiny car into something truly eye-catching. This version was fitted with a modern 4-stroke engine with electric start, making it ideal for regular use.

The result was the perfect pairing — a faithful original-style P50 alongside a bold, modern show car.

The Candy Apple Red P50 was driven regularly, taken to local events, through town, and even through a McDonald’s drive-through for a happy meal, quickly becoming a local favourite.

After several years of enjoyment, the owner reluctantly decided to part with the Candy Apple Red P50 in order to fund a planned property purchase in France. The car was sold to a French collector with a passion for beautifully preserved classics, including an early 1950s Volkswagen Beetle with exceptionally low mileage.

Sadly, she later passed away, and the P50 was subsequently returned to the UK. In May 2022, the Candy Apple Red P50 REP was sold on Collecting Cars for £16,500 plus buyer’s fees, achieving a total of £17,688 (approximately $24,000 USD). The car now resides in a private UK collection, where it continues to be carefully looked after and enjoyed.
