This week we’ll be mostly making; P.50 Steering Wheels

Another batch of handcrafted steering wheels for the P50s are being produced this week. We start with a hand-rolled mild steel ring, this is then put in a jig where the spokes and centre are welded on. The next stage is casting the inner steering centre boss in a tough urethane plastic. Once set (15-20 minutes) we cast the outer rim in a durable and slightly softer urethane plastic. Once set we remove any excess plastic, sand the surface smooth then apply a grey primer. 24 hours later we paint either in the original Grey colour or Old English White colour. The painted outer surface is left to set for another 24 hours and then is hand polished to a glorious shine.
